Malmö & Copenhagen - listening to Sonic Migrations. 27-10-2025

From October 27th to November 1st, I spent one week in Malmö and Copenhagen invited by the Malmö School of Theatre at Lund University, to share my scholarly and artistic experience with students and members of the surrounding community.

I experienced the artwork “Dentro do Mar tem Río Within the Sea, A River”, by PhD student Iury Salustiano Trojabord,  a sound installation interlacing Brazilian memories from her family paths leading to her grandmother, connecting family and nature in a deep inner quest. I also offered a talk  to the community of graduate students about a structured version of the work in progress of my book, exploring sonic interfaces, migratory listening and telepresence.

I then had the opportunity to go to Copenhagen, invited by Lukas Lund from the School for Public Life and the Bureau of Listening], to explore together how do we listen across distances — between places, bodies, memories, and more-than-human beings. Which resonances emerge when we tune in to what travels between us and beyond us. We practiced the Three Rituals in Sonic Migrations with a group of listeners. The setting was in the Copenhagen Main Library. We experienced Grounding from the Sea of Dreams, and Wording Land, weaving personal and collective experiences of belonging and displacement. Because the weather conditions were not appropriate for experiencing Treeling, at the Botanical Gardens, participants were invited to practice it on their own. Back in Malmö we spent two days in a workshop Breathing Traces, also exploring sonic migrations departing from breathing. Every participant brought their mobility experience and intake in migration, and practiced Treeling ,in the Folkets Park, full of social memory in the city, where the Tree was waiting for us to strengthen the links that were being created in our sharing of air, and embodied memory.

Del 27 de octubre al 1 de noviembre, pasé una semana en Malmö y Copenhague invitada por la Escuela de Teatro de Malmö de la Universidad de Lund, para compartir mi experiencia académica y artística con lxs estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad.

Experimenté la obra de arte «Dentro do Mar tem Río Within the Sea, A River», del estudiante de doctorado Iury Salustiano Trojabord,  una instalación sonora que entrelaza recuerdos brasileños de las trayectorias familiares que la llevaron hasta su abuela, conectando la familia y la naturaleza en una profunda búsqueda interior. También realicé una charla a la comunidad de estudiantes de posgrado sobre una versión estructurada del trabajo en curso de mi libro, en el que exploro las interfaces sonoras, la escucha migratoria y la telepresencia.

Luego, tuve la oportunidad de ir a Copenhague, invitada por Lukas Lund, de la Escuela para la Vida Pública y el Bureau of Listening para explorar cómo escuchamos a través de las distancias: entre lugares, cuerpos, recuerdos y seres más que humanos. Qué resonancias surgen cuando sintonizamos con lo que viaja entre nosotrxs y más allá de nosotrxs. 

Practicamos Tres Rituales en Migraciones Sonoras con un grupo de oyentes. El escenario fue la Biblioteca Principal de Copenhague. Experimentamos Grounding from the Sea of Dreams [Polo a tierra desde un mar de sueños]  y Wording Land, entretejiendo experiencias personales y colectivas de pertenencia y desplazamiento. Debido a que las condiciones climáticas no eran adecuadas para experimentar Treeling en el Jardín Botánico, se invitó a los participantes a practicarlo por su cuenta. De regreso en Malmö, pasamos dos días en un taller titulado Breathing Traces, en el que también exploramos las migraciones sonoras a partir de la respiración. Cada participante aportó su experiencia de movilidad y su percepción de la migración, y practicó Treeling en el Folkets Park, llena de memoria social en la ciudad, donde el árbol nos esperaba para fortalecer los vínculos que se estaban creando al compartir el aire y la memoria encarnada.
