Fui reconocida con la beca de Culture West - Creative Freelancer para crear Breathing Traces, un ensamble telemático de improvisación sonora con mujeres migrantes, que explora las huellas emocionales de sus migraciones a través de la respiración.

Entre el 26 y 27 de abril de 2025, realizamos un taller de dos días en colaboración con Silvia Carderelli, bailarina y terapeuta de movimiento, en el Centro Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo Arnolfini Bristol, en Bristol, Reino Unido. Nos reunimos con cinco mujeres migrantes de diferentes partes del mundo que residen en Bristol y exploramos la presencia de la respiración con Deep Listening y la telepresencia, que nos unió en una experiencia de sintonía con los árboles, las historias de nuestros lugares de origen y de esta tierra compartida que nos acoge. 

Este proyecto surge de experiencias previas de escucha con mujeres migrantes, en el proyecto INTIMAL, y de la necesidad de consolidar un espacio para expresar sentimientos asociados con el género y la migración, trascendiendo el lenguaje hablado y las fronteras geográficas. 

En esta experiencia, las mujeres se sintieron “conectadas con la frecuencia de mi propio corazón, escuchando los latidos en esos espacios silenciosos, entrando en lugares olvidados”. Además, destacaron el espacio en el que pudieron “ser vulnerables y apreciar verdaderamente ese momento especial de soñar juntas”. Además, cómo la experiencia “fue hermosa, con una sensación de intimidad y complicidad grupal que fue cuidada como un tesoro precioso”, y cómo “el taller me dio una chispa especial, que me ayudó a notar cosas simples que a menudo, paso por alto”.

Este proyecto contribuye a consolidar en 2026 un conjunto telemático de improvisación sonora de mujeres migrantes, que explora las huellas emocionales de sus migraciones a través de la respiración, la escucha, el sonido y el movimiento corporal.

I was awarded a Culture West - Creative Freelancer grant to create Breathing Traces, an improvisatory sound telematic ensemble with migrant women, exploring emotional traces of their migrations through breathing.

On April 26th and 27th, 2025, through a two-day workshop, I seeded this project in collaboration with Silvia Carderelli, dancer and movement therapist, at Arnolfini Bristol’s International Center for Contemporary Arts in Bristol, UK. We gathered with five migrant women from different parts of the world residing in Bristol, and explored breathing presence with Deep Listening, and tele-presence bringing us together in an experience of tuning in with trees, stories from our native places and from this shared land that is hosting us. 

This project emerges from previous listening experiences with migrant women, in the project INTIMAL, and the need to consolidate a space to express feelings associated with gender and migration, transcending spoken language and geographical boundaries. 

In this experience, women felt “connected with my own hearth frequency, hearing the heart beat in those silent spaces, stepping into forgotten places”. Also, they highlighted the space in which they were able “to be vulnerable and truly cherish that special moment of dreaming together.” Furthermore, how the experience “was beautiful, and I carried that sense of intimacy and group complicity as a precious treasure”, and how “the workshop gave me a special spark—one that helped me notice simple things I often overlook”.

This project contributes to consolidating in 2026 a migrant women's improvisatory sound telematic ensemble, exploring emotional traces of their migrations through breathing, listening, sounding and body movement.
