I am a sound artist with 13 years of postdoctoral creative research experience listening to our migrations: through voice, language, body, dreams and networking technologies.
I trust the healing that improvising and sounding with others between distant locations can bring to feelings of geographical and cultural loss.
I create telematic sonic performances to amplify our
sense of place and sense of presence, improving our wellbeing.
I create "embodied" Interfaces for Relational Listening (INTIMAL) and telematic scores for these performances.
I offer SENTIENT workshops, using Deep Listening® and telematic sonic improvisation, exploring sense of place and presence, and stimulate the creation of listening collectives derived from these process.
I lead an INTIMAL Collective for women who wish to listen to their migrations.
I am a sound artist and Deep Listening® certified tutor, with a PhD in Music Technology and Innovation, and 13 years of postdoctoral creative research experience listening to and improvising our sonic migrations: through voice, language, body movement, underground transport systems, dreams and networking technologies.
I have received prestigious research awards such as The Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship (2007-2009), and the Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowship (2017-2019), and Honorary artistic mentions such as IAWM New Genre Prize for "Sounding Underground", and Pamela Z innovation award at NIME Conference 2019, for "INTIMAL".
Currently I engage in:
-
the development of "embodied" Interfaces for Relational Listening (INTIMAL);
-
the facilitation and teaching of Deep Listening® and SENTIENT workshops;
-
the composition and direction of telematic sonic performances;
-
leading the INTIMAL collective, for women who wish to listen to their migrations.
I trust the healing that improvising and sounding with others between distant locations can bring to feelings of geographical and cultural loss, as we interconnect sensing place and feeling presence.
